NRA President Bob Barr's recommendations for the NRA Board of Directors Election. Last Chance to Vote; Election ends soon.

By Bob Barr, NRA President

The future direction of NRA depends on who we elect in this NRA Board of Directors election, so it’s important that we carefully consider who the candidates are and what experience they bring to the table. NRA directors must have a certain level of relevant knowledge and experience to faithfully perform their duty of oversight of NRA business activities. Service on the NRA Board is a volunteer position that requires hard work and dedication. It is not a glamour position and it is definitely not an on-the-job learning position. An NRA director needs to roll up their sleeves and hit the ground running with a history of practical experience.

Recognizing the great need for accomplished candidates to run for the NRA Board of Directors, I’ve brought together a team of experienced Second Amendment leaders to run in this NRA Board of Directors election cycle. These leaders are the best candidates to work with me to continue guiding NRA forward in the coming year.

But before I tell you about my team, I’d like to tell you a little more about myself, as I am also running with the team in this Board election.

Bob Barr biographical sketch

Throughout my career, including as current President of the NRA (Elected May 2024), as U.S. Congressman from 1995 to 2003, and as a practicing attorney, I have always and proudly advocated for the constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms. Defense of the Second Amendment was a primary focus of my political campaigns for Congress and my presidential run in 2008. I also have attended several international conferences in support of firearms rights, including fighting against efforts by the U.N. to weaken those rights.

I have appeared on many cable and network television programs and radio shows dealing with firearms and public policy matters. I currently write regularly for Townhall.com, The Daily Caller, and The Marietta Daily Journal and have been a columnist and blogger for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

From 1986 to 1990 I proudly served as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, under President Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush

From 1995 to 2003 I represented the 7th District of Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives and served on the Judiciary Committee, which was responsible for oversight of all Second Amendment and firearms rights legislation. Brief highlights of my service on this committee include:
